The Save Nottingham Airfield Group (SNAG) is a group of local people with the following views:
- We want to see the continued use of Nottingham City Airport (aka Tollerton Airfield) as a place of fixed-wing and rotary aviation, and as a place of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) training
- We believe the continued presence of operational flying at Tollerton brings significant financial benefits to the local community – financial benefits which have largely been ignored thanks to the influence of vested interests and lazy thinkers
- The loss of biodiversity has been completely overlooked by all politicians and by the planning authority
- Building houses on toxic/contaminated land is a catastrophically bad idea, and is a serious risk to the health of anyone who lives (or works) on the development
The campaign is staffed by volunteers. We spend our spare time, a lot of effort, and our own money promoting the airport, researching the history of the site, highlighting how the airfield benefits the community, and working to bring the airfield back to fully operational status.
We make Freedom of Information requests to local authorities and other public bodies, and we are tirelessly working with local government, our local MP, and with the Environment Agency on multiple initiatives. We also work very closely with local residents from Tollerton and surrounding areas.
