New photos

We’ve added a few ‘new’ photographs to our document library. These are aerial photographs of the airfield which you may not have seen before!

These photographs – from August 1947 – are images we are working on (which is why some of the photographs have areas – or items – of interest circled), as we continue to fight against the closure of Tollerton Airfield, and fight against the building of homes on contaminated land.

We believe these photographs throw previously undiscovered light on the work the groundcrew routinely carried out at RAF Tollerton, and they shed new understanding on the various types of aircraft which were flown in and were worked on prior to being decommissioned and burned, bashed, and then buried around the airfield.
