Russians in Tollerton?

One of the many interesting items our archivist has uncovered is a Russian map of RAF Tollerton and wait a minute…

A Russian map? Of RAF Tollerton? Is it genuine? Well, yes it is.

A member of Save Nottingham Airfield Group (SNAG) who has (British) military experience of Russian charts has examined it and says it’s the real thing – it’s a Russian military chart of RAF Tollerton – probably dating from around 1947.

This amazingly detailed map shows the full scale of RAF Tollerton as an operational unit (and if you have a discerning eye, you can also find some interesting off-airfield items!). The detail of the map also highlights the neglect the airfield has suffered under previous ownership.
