A good night!

Yesterday evening’s decision by RBC to withdraw the supplementary planning document (SPD), and to defer any further decisions until early March, is the best possible decision for the people of Rushcliffe, and for the residents of Gamston and Tollerton in particular.

The SPD was rushed, incomplete, and contained so many errors it was actually nonsense. It is inconceivable any council official would expect councillors to vote on an SPD which contained no traffic modelling and failed to set out any infrastructure costs.

Withdrawing the SPD was the only correct course of action. We deserve total transparency on this, and all other impacting plans, and the SPD had no transparency about it.

What’s next for SNAG?

The short answer is we fight on. The airfield at Tollerton is contaminated land. It’s unfit for any kind of development. We’re fighting to keep the village, we’re fighting to keep our way of life, we’re fighting to keep the wildlife we see around us every day, and we’re fighting to stop the development of the airfield. We aren’t easing off. We aren’t resting. Behind the scenes, we are continuing to fight on.
