Thank you!

Yesterday’s fundraiser was a knock-out affair! The weather turned up, a combined fixed-wing and rotary flyover turned up, and supporters of our cause turned up. An informal headcount estimated over 150 people came to see the displays, talk to some of our volunteers, win significant prizes(!) (generously donated by local businesses and supporters), and load up on cakes, hot drinks, and other refreshments.

Keyworth Historical Society’s display was very informative (they even had a couple of photos – not in their wonderful book – we hadn’t seen before). And it was an absolute joy to talk to one of the authors and share information in both directions! It was a great opportunity for people to ask questions about the campaign, the committee, our goals and timelines. And it was lovely to be able to put faces to names we have been corresponding with for so long, to make new friends, and add new names to our mailing list.

Meanwhile, our work continues; the massive support we continue to receive from members of the public – whether they’re based near, or far away – and the generous assistance we get from various parties in the aviation industry (at home and abroad), ensures the Save Nottingham Airfield Group campaign will continue to fight to secure the future of Nottingham Airfield, and to work against houses being built on unsuitable land.

Thank you to all of the organisers and especially Sarah Deacon and the gentlemen on the Keyworth historical stand. Great information and enthusiasm from all supporting the campaign. It was an excellent day and the weather was superb for the fly over. Great to see lots of familiar faces. Keep up the good work everyone.
